The annual auawirleben theatre festival brings international theatre productions to Bern for two weeks each May. The programme includes both productions from the independent theatre scene and those from municipal theatres. auawirleben’s open definition of theatre also allows for the inclusion of dance, installations, performance art and hybrid forms. The defining element of the programme is the festival theme, which changes each year. auawirleben 2027 will take place from 19 to 30 May.
